Take the opportunity to examine their job when possible and provide them with feedback soon. Be sure that they do the other things necessary to mirror you in the area when you can not be there and their shooting style matches yours. You don't desire your salespeople when your customer is used to getting things done a certain way to be like fish out of water. The willing they are before a shoot, the more obvious it will be that this isn't one of your normal shooters.
To be able to avoid this trap, you should set specific deadlines. You must always give this sort of pressure to yourself so you begin writing the script and just get out there. During this procedure you enrich the script by either taking away from it or adding to it and make connection. There are times when you hit the middle of your script and need to do some new research that pushes against it.
But what has not changed is the ability or not to use the video medium to tell a story. When to stop the interview grab, when to use music, when to use some images, when to use natural audio up bits - these all translate into a free flowing video production that works for the client and the people who will be watching that video production.

When shooting on location this isn't possible, nor does it provide an impression of what is being filmed. I find that if my video is digitized by me, there is a great deal more headroom than I found in the screen of the tv. Keep these factors in mind and try to maintain a margin for error.
I do my best to meet their requirements and expectations rather than getting to what I might want them to bend. I know it is not my day but theirs. I view website let them tell me exactly what they want. I do my very best to exceed their own expectations.
